So I had prodromal labor for nearly 3 weeks this past pregnancy (gave birth about 8 weeks ago), starting at around 36+4. I was having actual contractions as well, and did dilate to 2 cm, but basically continued having on and off contractions without much dilation progress till the real deal.
They won’t induce just because you’re dilated - I don’t think there’s any risk to being somewhat dilated for extended periods of time (I have a friend who was 4cm dilated for ~3-4 weeks before her first kid was born).
