Aac 77gr otm review.
I am debating whether something like 75gr TAP T2/77gr TMK would be better than bonded soft points such as Speer 64gr Gold Dot or XM556SBCT3 in a home defense scenario. From what I've heard, OTM is better against soft targets, but bonded soft points offer far superior wounding capabilities when barriers are introduced (furniture, drywall etc.).

The 69 gr logged 2969 FPS with an SD of 12. Both very nice velocities and standard deviations. At 500 yards, (we'll have to confirm this again) the 69 gr appeared to have a little edge over the 77 gr. Both of the loads creamed our SMK come up of 3.5 mils. The 77 got there with 2.9 mils, and the 69 gr got there with an even lower 2.7 mils.
However, with that said, our commercial packaged 5.56 77gr OTM is made on the same equipment, using the same components as MK262. It is, of course, in commercial packaging. The MK262 Mod 1-C is closer to the government ammo due to its packaging but again, it is not exactly MK262, but it is as close as you can get without it belonging to the ...

Seems to be love for 69gr from 1:9" barrel. My Colt 20" H-Bar with 1:9 twist really likes 69 grain SMK as does my 16" 1:7 twist Tavor. This AAC was less accurate than Black Hills, only hitting 1.25 to 1.5 MOA in barrels that shot 77 TMK Black Hills and handloaded 2.245 to 2.255 OAL TMKs .65 to 1.1 MOA. Then again, this was 100 degrees weather for the AAC and the Black Hills was 10-15 F cooler temps, so perhaps not a fair comparison.

Both hogs were bang flop. Very happy with their performance and price. The description on the Sabre black tips caught my attention.
