Why in the world would Sig finally produce a 365 with a great AXG frame, but slash the barrel length down from 3.7" to 3.1"? I'll take the longer barrel over a comped "2-port slide integrated expansion chamber" (Sig's own overblown description) any day! I'll gladly hang on to my X-Macro Tacops with its long 3.7" barrel, and its virtual zero recoil.

Which one is best for you will be dependent on where you fall along that bell curve of shooting experience. Which one you prefer is influenced by that but may still be a totally separate factor.The Sig X-Macro comes in a few flavors, most with polymer based grips. I have the non-compensated version with the 3.7" barrel, the TACOPs with the same barrel, and the new alloy framed AXG Legion. If you are going with the X-Macro TacOps or a365XL those are great choices. As you begin your journey as a new shooter consider a .22 caliber pistol as your second gun. The SIG p322 is a similar size and shape. The more you are able to shoot the more your skill and confidence levels will improve.

365 Macro - same size slide as the XL, but with a X sized barrel. The grip is considerably larger than the X/XL. I was suprised based on all the numerous Sig shill youtube reviews claiming it was a similar size as an X/XL.

That said, the X-Macro is also noticeably larger than the the P365XL and a lot larger than the P365X. The question you need to ask yourself is if you are going to use it primarily for range or self defense. If it's range, go with the X-Macro.
