A lot of people choose to get Shaman to 120, sub for a month or two, grind as much of the AA as they can - the total is probably over 70k spent AA now - before letting the sub lapse, as you get to keep them. You will also be limited to Tier 1 gear as a non-sub, and basically no augments and no raid gear period.
