Damon has a sick set of medium armor that’s 13k in act 3. That’s the most expensive I’ve seen. Item’s definitely get pricey but you also get more value for your sales in the city. It’s an interesting mechanic. Their are solutions for your gold needs. The biggest gold sink is for sure the quest that requires 20k, but theirs options.

There are a lot of items in this game that offer slightly more damage and utility than your average magical item at the cost of absolutely destroying everything else about your fighting ability--rendering those cool items pointless--which to me is really silly. Those options are obviously far more limited in a videogame. I think in BG3 druids are best used as casters while using the animal forms to give brief windows of durability, mobility or melee support.
