Engine cranks like its going to start but cuts off as if there is no fuel. I hear what I believe a sound indicating continuous power going to the fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump. If I pull the ignition relay in the main fusebox it stops.P0090 is fuel pressure regulator related, not the rail pressure sensor. You either have a sticky FPR, a bad coil in the FPR or no power to the FPR. you need 5v to the FPR for it to be controlled. Mogman.

You can also open the bleeder screw -- to let any air out. It is a black PLASTIC screw next to the primer pump. This is also something that is not very common on these Duramax engines but it happens more often than an ECM issue. The most common problem on the Duramax is the EGR. That and head gasket issues. As far as electrical issues, this is really the only other one I know of. ECM issues are not common at all.

The FRP regulator is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). The FRP regulator has a solenoid supply voltage circuit and solenoid control circuit.This morning I changed my thermostats in the truck because one was stuck open. I changed it by removing serp belt, ac compressor, removing the two main plugs that rest above the hardline to the upper rad hose.
