This morning, I started it again, and all the lights were off but everything was reset -- radio/clock. And the window finally started rolling up automatically after messing with it a few times. It's not the same as resetting trouble codes where you have to go in and confirm. Some scanners will reset the readiness routine just by connecting them and/or reading the readiness status. You may want to do a search to see if there is a similar check with Subarus where you can verify if the readiness codes have all cleared.

Apparently it just needs to be reset and the way you solve the problem is to run the window all the way up so it's closed, then you pull on the up switch again and hold it for 3 seconds. The window track inside the door can cause that if its not aligned correctly causing heavy drag on the window as it moved up/down. Its not a model specific issue it’s something that isn’t common but does happen. A dealer will replace the window mechanism if thats the case.

Pull the driver's window switch up and continue holding it up for a few seconds after it's fully closed. Repeat for the passenger window from the passenger's seat. Done!
