This Model 39 was made in the 1920s or early '30s. It is the early, classic rifle configuration with the S-type pistol grip, slim forend and 24-inch octagonal barrel. The S-grip was phased out by 1935 in favor of straight grips, and when the pistol grip was reintroduced a few years later, it had a "modern" grip cap.On one of my 39a's the firing pin was slightly curved.
