Slave output modifiers only apply to slaves in worker jobs, not specialist jobs. This was changed in 3.0 I believe, since specialist indentured servants getting slave boosts was OP. Slavery does suck now; maybe this should be revisited now that there are more sources of +specialist output and more downsides (no faction unity) to slavery.

In case you did and still didn't get it, the short story is this: the hive mind pops are members of a whole, there is no sense of ownership (as in owning slaves). Also they cannot coexist with other species. Drones in a hive attack individuals like white blood cells in your body, without thought. The only slave type Hive Minds have is Livestock.
