I find them a little richer and fuller (excluding the twang-to-shrill possibilities of a bright bridge pickup); Strats, on the other hand, to my ears have a softer attack, a more rounded, looser sound and a little more bounce. Well, they are two completely differently voiced amps. The Imperial contains both blackface and tweed Fender Deluxe tones. The Royalist mkII contains three different vintage Marshall voicings: 1964, 1967 and 1970. I don't really favor one over the other because they are very different sounds.
