336 Design changes. Hey folks, new member here. I've been reading and lurking for awhile. I have a few 336's a couple .30-.30's, a .44mag, and a .35 Remington. The Model 39 was a deluxe 1897, without checkering. The exception is the magazine tube latch assembly. Most 1897 parts and some early 39a parts are interchangeable. There were 2 engineering changes. The "S" prefix was added when they put the lock down rivet into the ejector. The "HS" when the High Speed (reinforced) bolt was added.
