Thus far my D has Tulane and Wisconsin-Madison as top two choices for a different major, waiting for UMich hopefully by end of this week. USC was a hail mary so D didn't set it up as a 1st choice in her mind, but no rejection feels good. My mom is annoyed and won't give anymore money to USC. lol

All undergraduate students entering USC may receive a combined maximum of 32 elective units for college courses taken before high school graduation and/or examinations (e.g., AP or IB) taken before matriculation at a two-year or four-year college.In 2021, USC admitted 8,884 of the 71,031 total applicants, for an admit rate of 12.5%. 3,668 of those 8,884 eventually enrolled, resulting in a 41.3% yield rate. It is tougher to get into Marshall or SCA, since they are much smaller schools within USC. Dornsife has almost half of all undergrads, so that school accepts many more students. I have absolutely no inside information but suspect (because of the tie to merit scholarships) it has been more than half.So, USC is not really deferring the decision. They are simply deferring the announcement. And yes… that may be a bit cruel to keep hopes alive until March. But, it remains the reality of things. Eventually, by March, USC will admit another 5,800-6,200. It could be a few hundred more. It simply depends on their current yield projection.
