The Yamato upgrade's improved dispersion turns Devastating Strike into Devastating Whiff should the target maneuver in ways you didn't predict when you fired. And, while it helps tilt RNG in your favor a bit, it doesn't make you immune to it. Sometimes, more shells downrange is better than fewer, tighter-grouped ones. YMMV.
