Kim was born on May 22, 1969, in Westfield, MA to Wayne B Barber and Lynda S (Mucha) Barber. She graduated from Westfield High School Class of 1987. Kim devoted much of her life to caring for cats. She volunteered at the Westfield Homeless Cat Project for many years and enjoyed fostering cats with the help of her daughter and mother.
